With two books published in the technology field (Brasport/2010 and Packt/2014), Leal was also featured on Forbes Brazil’s list of the 10 Black professionals making history in major technology companies. In 2020, he was one of three finalists for the “Sim à Igualdade Racial” award, and “THEREZA – Uma Genealogia Afro-Brasileira” is his third book and the first on Afro-Brazilian ancestry, recognized as a semifinalist in the 2024 Jabuti Academic Award.
